Million Mile Camaro

If you were happy with the mileage your car did between its last services then you might want to think again.

On the 13th of April 1970, while out shopping, Emma Ely saw this Nassau Blue stock SS350 Camaro in a Chevrolet showroom in Winterhaven, Florida.

As you do, she promptly marched across the road to the dealership and told the salesman that she would buy the car if they painted some white stripes on it. $4418.09 later (the car cost $2,958.50 plus 1,459.45 worth of extra’s including the stripes) and the motor was hers.

Thirty seven years, seven paintjobs and a whole lot of TLC down the road and  Emma has racked up an astonishing 1,104,000 miles in the car, having flipped the odometer completely. What is even more surprising is that the car is still running its original engine, gearbox and rear end. In fact the only part to be replaced recently is the Muffler.

Unfortunately we could only find pictures of 72-year-old Emma’s motor so we cant say if she’s fared as well as the Camaro.
