Road trippin’ JDM Allstars to Wales
Another weekend has rolled by and this one involved a car show, long drives and drinking as much energy drink as possible.
This time the event was JDM Allstars at Lydden Hill race circuit in Kent. The last round at Wembley stadium was insane and wet - I was expecting big things from the next instalment…

After a delayed start to the day, we finally arrived at Lydden Hill. It’s the first time I’d been there and the circuit was neat and tidy and the corners provided the fans with some fast-paced drifts.

However, the event was dry when it came to the crowds. The fans from Wembley sadly didn’t find their way to Kent, which was a shame. I still think the series is great, but the track at Lydden was missions to reach.

But, a dry track saw the Supra-powered S15 from Driftworks light-up its rear tyres in a wall of smoke and shredded rubber. It’s a car that I’ll never get bored of seeing, unlike the dragon airbrushed Supra – the car is older than Moses’ sandals.

After a few hours we left as I’d agreed to head to Wales with Carl from Motorworx to collect his new Martini edition Ford Ranger pick-up.
Returning back to the realms of London town having already put 300 miles under our belts, we were set to embark on a further three hour road trip.

Check out this Renault Gordini I spotted on the drive. It’s amazing how many cool cars you can spot on the motorways as fans head home from events all over the UK.

Poor old Sierra Cosworth had a spot of bother.

Finally we arrived and the deal was done, only to jump into the new truck and re-do the three hour drive.

On our return we had clocked roughly 800 miles and spent 10 hours of the day sat in cars. All I wanted to do was head home and crash out. Walking to my car still wired from the five cans of Rockstar energy drink, it dawned on me that I was missing something – my car keys!

Yes, I’d left them in the car we had left in South Wales – Doh! After some phone calls I got a lift to collect my spares from Motoraddicts HQ and finally managed to put a close to my day a further two hours later…
Road trips are the nuts! Why don’t you post your next one on here and share with us.
