SCHNELL! SCHNELL!

You just know when AMG roll out a ‘Black Series’ edition of one of their cars that cheap and slow are two words that would have been banished from their offices, and happily this evil-twin of the SL65 AMG is no exception.

If you are one of the lucky few that can afford the whopping $320,000 price tag then you are in for a real treat. The SL 65 AMG Black Series comes with a Twin Turbo 6.0 litre V12 that pushes out a ground-shaking 661 HP at 5400 rpm and 738 lb/ft of torque. That’s more than the combined torque of 10 smart cars.

Not only does the Black Series have all the usual performance tweaks we’ve come to expect from AMG, but it also sports a menacing lightweight wide-body kit, reminiscent of DTM circuit racers. A carbon fibre Bonnet (Hood), Boot (Trunk) and Bumpers (Fenders) help to cut the weight down to 1,896kg – 250kg less than the stock model.

The trick retractable hard-top found on the standard AMG version has also been traded in for a fixed roof with an integrated roll cage, and a movable Veyron-style spoiler helps finish off the aggressive look while keeping this monster glued to the black stuff at high speed.

Early figures suggest that the Black Series can get from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds, and on to a limited top speed of 199 mph.
