Road Test: Subaru STIposted by NewCarAddict, 10-Oct-08
I’ve gone over what I was going to write about this car a million times in my head this past week. Each time I parked outside Motoraddicts HQ I’ve had different feelings towards the Subaru Impreza...
DIY 350Z splitter

Just because someone says they run a bodyshop on a forum, does not mean that they are any good… Choosing the right place to kit up your car is almost as important as choosing the right tattoo parlour. Even though it’s not permanent, it’s a lot of money to lose in one hit. Take for example this dude on 350Z.com. He took a gamble and left his pride and joy Nissan and brand new bodykit with a guy who already had a mixed reputation on the...
Blue tinted outlook
posted by AddictEDITOR, 08-Oct-08
On Saturday, Carl and I decided to tint the windows of his latest truck. Everybody I know dreads adding their own tint and they normally go to a professional fitter, but we were up for the challenge. It was us against the film… We brought a few rolls of blue and set to work. By cutting the tint to a more manageable size about an inch over the edge of the glass, we found it fairly easy to work with. Using a spray of water allowed us to move the film around, once...

Power is king, so long live the king. Getting extra horses from your car is becoming more important than ever on the scene right now. So, the tuning firms have to keep on their toes, and producing power figures for customers is crucial. I headed down to Motorworx to check out the latest conversion from M.A Developments (MAD) to help Cossie owners gain those all-important ponies. The latest conversion keeps standard internals and doesn’t require extensive head...
NASCAR overtake fail
posted by MotorsportAddict, 02-Oct-08
With just half a lap left, and first place driver Jimmie Johnson in his sights, NASCAR driver Carl Edwards decided it would be a good idea to try a move inspired by a video game to steal the win. Having noticed that bouncing your car off the wall to get around corners more easily works well in computer land, Edwards figured that this could also be applied to real life racing. The American racer dived up the inside of Johnson on the final corner of last weekend’s Sprint...
Audi R8 inspired Catamaran

An order has already been placed for this radical boat by a Dubai based race team, and we think it’s the coolest thing to hit the water since the Jackass boys’ lake jumping stunt. The racing boat, dubbed the R8.8, has design cues taken from the road-fairing Audi R8. It is 8.8 meters in length (hence the name) and any potential owner will have the choice of two power options – a V10 diesel, powered by bio-fuel for the planet-friendly...
Vibe, I’ve got that viiiibbbbeee

I’m more excited than a dog with two bones today. “Why?” I hear your little voices ask…. Well, I’ve gone and got myself a Vibe Black Air 12 subwoofer. After the product review I decided that the MR2 could do with some sounds to keep me chilled while stuck in the daily traffic to and from Motoraddicts HQ. Let’s face it, the first thing I wanted was a kicking bass line, and the Black Air was going to be my weapon of...
JDM Allstars Lydden Hill 2008
posted by EventAddict, 30-Sep-08
You’ve read my report, you’ve seen the pictures, now prepare to buckle up and sit tight as we unleash our tyre-smoking video from JDM Allstars at Lydden Hill in Kent. It’s a three minute motoring classic, but I don’t think it’ll be getting an Oscar nomination or bagging me an invite to Cannes just yet. However, it is burnout-tastic and filmed from the cheap seats, exactly how we like it. So crank up your speakers and prepare for some...
Windsor Cruise

This month at our regular meet not everything went to plan. We had hoped to head into the smoke to create some noise in the city’s tunnels and capture our epic adventure on tape. Despite the excellent show of cars at the meet point, we only had a handful of takers who wanted to go and rattle the capital's foundations. A tough decision was called for so I took the hit squarely on the chin and decided that we’d save the route for another time when the...
V12 plane engine in 1955 Chevy
posted by NewCarAddict, 29-Sep-08
Adding a mahoosive engine to your ride is a big enough job for most car fans. So, how about dropping in a plane lump? Yep, we haven’t been hitting the lunch time bong, the Speed Channel presenters take us round this 1955 Chevy that is now powered by a supercharged Rolls Merlin V12 plane engine – the ones used in Spitfires. This was no overnight or weekend, beer and buddies conversion. This project took five long years of fabrication, then nine months to complete the hand painted...
