Faster than a speeding fist: Dodge Viper ACR
posted by MotorsportAddict, Friday

The Dodge Viper ACR is an animal – in fact, it’s a reptile killer snake. Just as its name suggests, and just like the viper in nature, the ACR has the speed and the power to kill off its rivals. If you’re a Corvette ZR1 fan, then here’s a tissue to mop up your tears, as the 600bhp Viper ACR has just lapped the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 22.1 seconds. Although the lap time is unofficial, I think it has definitely taken pole position for braggin’...

Nissan Skyline GTR R33 Dyno
posted by AddictEDITOR, Friday

It was time for Road Runner’s R33 to face the dyno. Most of the regular site users would have caught his blog, and the endless list of goodies that his 1995 Nissan Skyline came equipped with from Japan – if you didn’t click here. Sickening isn’t it?   With such an extensive tuning package, we all knew that the figures from this ride were going to be a little special, and the dyno is the place to sort the talk from the walk.   As you’ll see from the...

Evo powered Colt CZ3
posted by MotorsportAddict, Thursday

Let’s face it; the Mitsubishi Colt was never going to impress the big bhp-boys. That’s unless you get yourself this saucy little number from Kosunen Racing. Thanks to some crazy Finnish rally engineering, the once 1.3-litre 90hp Colt CZ3 is now a full-blown rallysprint contender with over 500bhp under the good foot.   The car now also sports a harder and wider look, having been fitted with a fully customised bodykit. The purpose of the additional glassfibre is, as...

Racing R8
posted by MotorsportAddict, Wednesday

If the R8 wasn’t already a real head turner, Audi have just announced a racing R8, dubbed the R16 and it’s available for those who like to go racing. The new racing R8 is something a little more special than its meeker road-going brother. This pure-bred beast has 500 ponies raring to be set loose under the good foot, while the normal all-wheel drive is a no-no in sportscar racing’s GT3 class, meaning this new race-ready R8 becomes rear wheel-drive.   Head of Audi...

Giugiaro Quaranta
posted by NewCarAddict, Wednesday

No doubt you will have seen pictures of this concept from the Motorshows, but we have found some extra snaps of the Italian designed, Toyota-Hybrid powered, futuristic supercar. The car would look more at home in a Hollywood film than mixing it up on the roads today. There is space for three adults plus a midget, or child, in the eco-friendly machine and if you owned one of these bad-boys I think you would be more popular than the loose girl on prom night.   Not only is the car running...

Creamfields 10 years
posted by LifestyleAddict, Wednesday

Fancy a blog of Cream? Well, not only am I going to tell you about the latest album from the gurus of trance and house, you also have the chance to win a copy. Creamfields has been at the top of its game for 10 years and in celebration has collaborated some of the best tunes to sum up the last decade over three CDs. Creamfields took the club scene out of the club and into the country and that’s what keeps it the number one dance festival in the UK.   So if you fancy busting some...

207 un-fails and doesn’t suck
posted by AddictEDITOR, Tuesday

Last week Big Bear’s Peugeot 207 GTI broke as soon as it rolled on the dyno.   After a few repairs, the 207 was ready to return, so on Saturday we headed down to Motorworx to see what the French motor had in store. Since we posted the last video, Big Bear has copped a lot of flack from us. But now he might have the last laugh.   At first, Carl at Motorworx ran the car stock. The power figure hit 176bhp, a whole one horse over the book and badged figure quoted by...

Bentley GT 1 – Phone poles 0
posted by NewCarAddict, 22-Aug-08

Yet another car that costs more than several hot hatches has stuffed it in Europe (click here for our R8 story). This time a Bentley Continental GT Coupe took on two telegraph poles in Russia and came out the victor – well almost. We don’t have any more information on the accident at the moment. But, it sure acts as a good advert for Bentley, as the car stayed in remarkably good condition despite felling two wooden pylons while on its way into the ditch. Thanks: Carscoop

FFWD Styling Punto
posted by AddictEDITOR, 22-Aug-08

Roughly nine years ago I was working for FFWD Styling, one of the biggest aftermarket car part retailers in the UK. It was here, I had a hand in building a MKII Fiat Punto for a competition prize in Fast Car magazine. At the time the car had all our latest parts inside and out. The deep dish Euro rims had to be imported from Germany and the -50mm springs were developed especially for this car. The interior was stripped out and replaced with two racing seats, harnesses, steering wheel and a...

Dunkin’ R8
posted by NewCarAddict, 21-Aug-08

Driving an Audi R8 is going to grab people’s attention, fact. The car even manages to looks fast when it’s parked up. But, how fast does it look when you’ve dunked it in a river? Not very.   The Audi sportscar, now a write off, was on a test drive by an over-zealous 33 year-old Dutch man in his local town. Police investigating the crash, reported he was pushing 80mph in a 50mph zone only to hit a bump and loose control, forcing the car to take a plunge.   This...

Grab your glow sticks and get ready to punish your ear drums with some of the most classic dance tracks of all time with ‘Back to 95’. The 40-track album is mixed by the one and only Norris ‘Da Boss’ Windross, and drops some absolute classics by Happy Clappers and Robin S.   These are the tunes that set the standard for the House & Garage we know today, and if you missed it then, you can grab a slice of the good stuff with this funky CD...

Keith Cowie’s R32
posted by MotorsportAddict, 20-Aug-08

There are Skylines, and then there are Skylines. Keith Cowie’s R32 is one of the latter. It’s a drag machine that has a serious reputation which is not built on hot air alone. The real focus of this drag racing monster is the engine, a 3.0-litre OS Giken to be exact. Its spec list is an impressive read for any tech-hungry car fan. The RB Motorsport cylinder head, and a massive Turbo Dynamics 1250bhp GT Spec single turbo alone are enough to get the taste buds going.   The...

Garage Diaries: Fitting HID lights
posted by AddictEDITOR, 19-Aug-08

My headlight beams are totally whack! So it was time to get off my ass and get my HID kit fitted to the MR2. I didn’t have the tools for the job on my last attempt. So, this time I woke up Carl, from Motorworx, bright and early on Sunday morning and blagged him to give me a hand and lend me his tools.   Fitting an HID kit is just a matter of swapping in a new bulb and ballast, so in a regular car it's no big deal and can be completed in 10-15 minutes. However, with the 80’s...

Project Fat Boy: Nissan Pulsar
posted by AddictEDITOR, 19-Aug-08

It’s been a while since Project Fat Boy has had an update on here. The car is now just a bare shell, everything has now been stripped down and the attention is focused on the running donor’s engine. The latest addition to the Pulsar’s lump is a new shortened exhaust that’s mounted in the front bumper - just like the cars in Time Attack and Drift.   With the wide-body kit in mind, Carl from Motorworx, decided to position the front exhaust on his current car to...

Man builds Batmobile
posted by LifestyleAddict, 18-Aug-08

I love the latest Batman flick - the Dark Knight - in fact I’m planning on seeing it again at the cinema. However, my love for the film has been pounded into the ground by one super-fan, who has built his own Batmobile. If you have seen either of the latest Batman movies, then no-doubt you will appreciate how bad-ass the vehicle is. Using nothing but pictures on the internet as a reference, the keen fan dedicated time and roughly 60,000 USD to the project.   Also know as the...

JDM All Stars
posted by EventAddict, 18-Aug-08

It’s been a week since I visited Wembley Stadium car park to watch some of the best drifting action on offer this year. I did feel sorry for the event organisers though, as the heavens opened just before lunchtime and drenched everyone, in keeping with our very British summer weather. However despite the downpour, it was an awesome event, and a good time was had by all. Drifting started on the streets, and JDM Allstars have brought it back to its roots. While other drift series, like...

Kiriu pro lancer
posted by NewCarAddict, 15-Aug-08

This Mitsubishi Lancer is so hot you’d need oven gloves just to open the door. The blue and yellow paintwork slaps you in the face, grabbing your attention as well as highlighting the fine lines of the car’s custom wide body kit, which is a mix of carbon and FRP. If you think this car is just a pumped up show pony though, you’d be wrong. A 4G63 engine resides under the bonnet and is boosted by a massive TD 04 turbo. Everything is then pulled into perfect working harmony by a...

Batman on the M25
posted by AddictEDITOR, 15-Aug-08

Getting to work is never the best trip in the world. However, today was even worse than normal thanks to a lone protester who scaled a gantry dressed as the dark knight. The Batman wanna-be was perched above one of the heaviest flowing roads in the UK, and diced with death just to hang his banner supporting the group Fathers 4 Justice, over the road.   Police and fire-fighters were on scene and were forced to close several lanes of the motorway, packed full of early morning commuters -...

Smash the pitch up
posted by GameAddict, 14-Aug-08

Lycra is something we normally reserve for Promo Girls and Lance Armstrong types, but when we received an invite to Battersea Park in south London for the launch of Eidos’ new Summer Athletics game (and the promise of free beer!) we couldn’t resist donning our finest and heading on over. The day was split into three parts: try-out the Wii version of the game in one of the fitness rooms in the Millennium Sports centre, a ‘Wii-lay’ race around the track, and a finale of...

Petrolhead Nirvana
posted by EventAddict, 13-Aug-08

How could I refuse an invite to the Ace Café to drool over some high end motors and drink some of the finest tea available in North West London? Supporting car clubs and meets is what we do. We like heading along and checking out the cars, chatting with the members, and grabbing some great footage to share with you guys. Petrolhead Nirvana was a meet that I would suggest is definitely worth checking out, no matter what car you drive.   The cars on display were above the usual...
