Project Blackjack – The Rising Storm
Ever fancied owning a drift car and jetting off to smoke up the world's most famous race tracks? Of course you have. Ever sessioned a racing game for so long that your thumbs turned white and you brain forgot how to blink?
Well these guys have combined those two noble past times, and in the process, made the most epic piece of Forza Motorsport 2 action we've seen…by miles. And the best thing about it is that anyone with an Xbox360 and a copy of Forza can recreate it, letting you drift around the world without spending the gross national product of Belgium on tyres and blown turbos in the process.
The Rising Storm is the latest, and final, video feature from a group of 11 Xbox LIVE gamers calling themselves Project Blackjack. It took them over a year to film, and covers drifting action from the Nurburgring, Road Atlanta, Mugello, Silverstone, Suzuka, Motegi and the Forza New York street circuit.
Just like in the real-life drifting scene, the members of Project Blackjack have dedicated countless hours to honing their drifting skills and performing inch-perfect two, three and four car tandem drifts. Using a combination of moving and stationary camera cars, the members of Project Blackjack were able to capture some absolutely amazing in-game footage - making you question whether you are still watching a replay of a video game.
We can't decide whether this is one of the coolest things to emerge from the Forza Motorsport community, or whether these guys really need to get out of their bedrooms more often. But nonetheless, just for dedication alone, and the obvious talents of the director this awesome video deserves at least a nod of approval from any self respecting petrolhead.
Special mention must also go to the soundtrack, which features some of the 80’s finest. Including the somewhat brave use of Kenny Loggins’ Dangerzone (of Top Gun fame).
The video may take a minute to load but it is an epic, and well worth the wait.
