Top BMW tuner, Sav Gualtieri, has produced some of South Africa's most potent bimmers. Just how potent are Sav's conversions? Well in a 2004 shoot-out held by Performance BMW magazine (UK), SAV's car managed to beat 11 other UK Super Bimmers!

And yes it’s a sleeper. Everything is stock standard other than the engine and two fat 'zorts sticking out the rear.. The smarty pants in a Ferrari that pulls up next to this M3 is in for a shock as there are no visible exterior "turbo charger inside" badges that suggest the car has 345kW of boosted M-Power lurking under the hood.
It really is a gem - not only does it look stock standard, it also drives and handles as it did the day it left the showroom floor. I can't exactly call it a wolf in sheep's clothing because, well, it is a BMW M3 after all. Turn the key and it sounds like a stock M3. No erratic idle or misfire. Give it some gas and pushes off as any other M3 would. At half throttle there’s an audible shrill and you’ll know there is something turbo stuffed in there - but not exactly neck snapping power. Give it a lot of gas and oh-my-gawd!! Dayum does this baby shunt!! The moment it was over I needed a wetwipe and a cigarette. Not to say the car was all out of control. Not in the least. On the contrary, thanks to the advanced (stock) diff and suspension, all the power was put down on the tar, unlike most turbo-charged cars that battle for traction.
Nice one and congrats to SAV and his team for being the first SA tuner to turbo charge an E46 M3.
SAV Speed E46 M3 Turbo
I was invited by Sav Gualtieri, owner of SAV Speed to come have a look at his latest creation; the first E46 M3 to be turbo charged in our country. According to my sources there aren’t many turbo charged E46 M3’s currently roaming the planet. And yes it’s a sleeper.
