I'd been looking forward to Knockhill but had never driven it. It seemed that most people had been practising either the day before or in the morning of the event, no such practise for me. It showed in first practise, I was slow. All year I had been meeting my expectations and I expected to have a good showing at Knockhill with my modest power, but I forgot how to drive. I couldnt seem to push, and lacked concentration, the track was more daunting than I expected. Maybe I was just too tired,...

What a superb day! It started off dry then rained in the last session and in the first part of the finals. It became a bit of a leveler in the wet though at the end. A lot of the big powered cars couldn't get the power down so times tumbled. I went out 3rd and there was rivers running across the track and the kerbs were like ice rinks! Track is amazing as anyone that has driven it will testify. Adverse cambers on blind bends throw the car right across the track, straight into the gravel...

After a 5 hour drive up the A1 past Edinburgh I arrived at the hotel where a few competitors were already there, after refuelling ready for the next day I saw a few of the lads from Scoobclinic and we had a couple of drinks. Up early and down to the track for a track morning to familiarise myself with it. After a few laps I was getting unofficial 1.01s, but thought I could knock 2-3 seconds off that. I made a few alterations to my suspension, and it appears I may have been running...

OMFG!! I finally completed a round of Time Attack without breaking the car!! Well thats a slight porky pie, i broke my own car on thursday morning at 2am, after finishing building the grey STI5 ready for TOTB. Boll0cks!! This was a bad breakage, unrepairable in a day, so i quickly confirmed with Rob if i was good to take the grey car instead. Yes was the answer. Mark of Lateral Performance was good enough to let me use the car, as i would my own. The effort of building that over the previous...

As usual with me everything ended up being rather last minute. A ply wood splitter under tray that we had been working on for quite a while put u more of a fight on its final fitting. To the point that we finally got it on and the road at about 4am Saturday morning! So no time for any sleep. Quick trip home, shower, pack the car and then drive down to Donnington. Which thankfully was not to long a drive but having had very little sleep and none that night i was suffering a bit. Still arrive...

Hmm, round two of Time Attack at Silverstone... Well, it all started well with me arriving on Saturday evening to drop the car off. Was mighty happy to find the amount of space available in the garages! So, a nice quiet Saturday evening and onto the circuit nice and early on Sunday. I went out for the first warm up session and unbelieveably had serious missfires AGAIN! I'd been out on the road a lot during the week before trying to get used to the new power and...

Well that was lucky, managed 1 full lap all day and it was the one that counted. :D Day started pretty bad, blowout on the trailer on the way down, towing a car that didnt actually work. Having guessed that the timing belt must have jumped a tooth I while travelling down, after spending most of the previous evening ruling out other problems, I started dismantling stuff. There was nothing wrong with the belt positioning, so stick it all back together, I've now missed the first practise...

Oooooo Sunburn! How hot was that today. The weekend started early for me with a mercy dash to help rescue Gunther Vallons in his XO Turbo EP3 who was stranded with a failed clutch on the Saturday night. After some messing around bleeding the system...what a sod of a job on a Civic!!!!! Gunther was eventually ready to roll and now in debt to the tune of a few beers! Preperation for me didn't go quite to plan due to work commitments so I ended up running the car in pretty much same state...

Well... having done reasonably well at Round 1 I thought my chances at Round 2 would be good and couldnt wait for the JTS show to come around! Roger Rally (www.turnaround360.com) sourced a 5 speed GSR gearbox to replace the broken and weaker 6 speed we had originally that died at Donington and once it had arrived Rich from RG Motorsport came over and got his hands dirty to make the conversion complete. We sourced roll centre adjusters and adjustable pillow mounted steering rack ends and...

Well, another round, another disaster and a great way to spend your 7th wedding anniversary! Having rebuilt the engine after Donnington, and curing a few problems, i broke my gearbox at Scooby Shoot Out last sunday. So on friday i went down to Zen to get the car ready with their help, and also assist them to get their car ready. The new gearbox was built up by friday night at 7pm, and a foolish mistake caused another 14 hours work. I left the spanner on the crank bolt when i started the...

Well what a start to our season, with fine weather and a great selection of cars on track was really exciting, had a great day on saturday until a spin down craner damaged the exhaust and wheels, On Sunday i decided to run with less fuel to try and take advantage of less weight but it backfired in a big way when i suffered massive fuel surge on the last half of the circuit knocking me down a place or two in the final. Very dissapointed. But came home with the car in almost one piece so happy...

I was 7th in the Time Attack club challenge today at donnington. Out of 25 cars including skylines, evos, scoobys etc. If you read the website I think my car is supposed to be the 5th least powerfull! The key to it is getting the power down which my car did very well thanks to its supercharger. Every BHP I have is 100% usable. Even Ron kiddel was amazed with it performace on saturday when I ran 3rd fastest in the last 2 session. Unfortunatley a massive headwind down the main straight on sunday...

Arriving late on Friday evening to get set up there was already a good atmosphere in the pits. Got the car unloaded then headed away to get a bit of grub to end quite a long day of car prep and travelling. Saturday morning saw the pits looking much more full and I was dead keen to get out and learn the circuit. It was the first time I'd driven Donny but I had studied a few videos so I knew roughly where I was going! I had some high rev misfire issues that were sorted with a...

Time Attack Round 1 at Donington was my 1st time as an 'official' photographer, having used 2006 as a learning year. It was also my 1st time with my new lens, a 70-200 F2.8 which weighed a ton compared to my previous 70-300 F4-5.6!! The drivers breifing was 1st and it was good to see how professional everything was organised and run, apart from the usual banter! The practice was immediatley after the briefing and I decided to shoot from Redgate (the 1st corner on the circuit) and just before I...

Everything seemed to be going well until around 4pm on Friday. The car had just come back from the stickman and was looking great, we had the pain to spray the bootlid which needed a few holes filling after removal of the standard spoiler and fitting of the BIG GAY WING Luckily I have a spare boot, but it looked a little odd with no stickers .... So off we set to Donington, again, not as smooth as we would have liked, the campsite required us to be there by 6:30pm, we were looking to...

Well arrived a day early for some track time at Donny. Just got my car sorted as i was rear ended (easy tiger) the day before. John at RASP banged out the damage as best he could so i could drive the car again. In clear track time i was getting consistent 1.28's with one corner being inconsistent with, but no bad for my 5th track day. Up early Saturday and on track again but couldn/t get clear runs so i couldn't manage better than a 1.30, and was annoyed as i'd set my goal as...

Well what an interesting start to the season.. The bullet reamined pretty much as she was from last years spec list other than us fitting an uprated radiator and adjusting suspension settings over what we were running towards the end of 2006. Usual story in the run up to the event, plenty to organise, no time to do it but we managed to get both the evo & our 350Z ready to play and we did have a sportsmans bet running between me and Andy has to who would kick who's...
