Donny Round 1
Arriving late on Friday evening to get set up there was already a good atmosphere in the pits. Got the car unloaded then headed away to get a bit of grub to end quite a long day of car prep and travelling.
Saturday morning saw the pits looking much more full and I was dead keen to get out and learn the circuit. It was the first time I'd driven Donny but I had studied a few videos so I knew roughly where I was going! I had some high rev misfire issues that were sorted with a new set of plugs from RSE (cheers guys!) and was pretty happy with the car and the circuit by the afternoon session. I managed a 1:25 but knew there was a fair bit more time in a clear lap...
Sunday morning saw some supremely rubbish driving from me that saw a spin very early on in Redgate and 4 ruined tyres on the way into the chicane after a very silly brake lockup moment. Ho hum, time to regroup mentally and sort it out for the next session. I secured the loan of some wheels from Kev Atkins (cheers mate!) and started very sensibly in the next practice session.
My timed lap went really quite well but I know there's more time to be had with my current spec. I managed a fairly respectable 1:23 and 9th in Club Challenge. However, I'll not get to find out how quick my car could be with only 350 ponies because at the next round I'll have 700 rampaging horses under the bonnet! Watch out Club Challenge peeps!
Well done to all the winners and I hope that everyone who broke anything has it all sorted for round 2!
