Kev@Apex's Round 1 report

Everything seemed to be going well until around 4pm on Friday. The car had just come back from the stickman and was looking great, we had the pain to spray the bootlid which needed a few holes filling after removal of the standard spoiler and fitting of the BIG GAY WING

Luckily I have a spare boot, but it looked a little odd with no stickers ....

So off we set to Donington, again, not as smooth as we would have liked, the campsite required us to be there by 6:30pm, we were looking to arrive at 8:30pm, rather than risk the chaos of the Donny show chavs we booked into a travel Inn to get a good nights sleep.

The chavs had invaded the travel inn and inisted on running up and down the corridors shouting and drinking like teenagers on their first trip away from home. The manager tried to calm them but just a torrent of abuse ..... about 2am they decided they should set the fire alarm off .... and we all spent an hour outside .... they took the oportunity to grab more cans from the cars and carry on the party in the car park.

Sat came and the car was sounding noisy. After checking all the turbo gaskets it was plain it was a cracked manifold .......

Inspection after the event confirmed this, and it got worse over the weekend. It was on No4 cylinder and causing extra lag, overfuelling (As various people behind found out - sorry Dixon for covering your ITR in fuel) and of course power loss.

From then on things went smoother, edging away at my laptimes, but still not having enough commitment in corners (I think that was making sure I kept on the blackstuff after a winter of building the car and nearly bankrupting myself in the process). In the end I did my best lap where it sounted, despite it being scruffy, and got 8th.
