‘Vette range reaches limit

Roll-up roll-up it’s your last chance to bag yourself a limited edition Corvette. Hmm… A limited edition model that hasn’t flown of the shelf – what’s up with that?

I’ve never heard of a limited edition that has had to have a bit of late PR to help boost its sales, save for maybe Skoda or Yugo. Normally, uber-keen fans would bite a dealers hand off to get one tucked up nicely in a heated, humidity controlled garage.

Maybe it’s because the firm seem to have a million so-called ‘limited editions’ on offer (it’s only two but for artistic licence I wrote a million). You currently have the choice of the ‘Victory’ edition or the ‘Ron Fellows’.

The ‘Victory’ was covered by our good-selves on its debut release, as we thought it looked a real beast. It had an un-shy 404bhp with a tarmac folding 546Nm of torque all provided by a 6.0-litre V8 and was made to celebrate Corvette’s five class victories in the punishing Le Mans 24 Hours.

We have to say it does look one mean mother in its dark finish and it was reviewed on the best motoring blog on the web (Motoraddicts by the way).

The second choice of Corvette’s limited edition stock is the ‘Ron Fellows’, who raced for Corvette and was three time American Le Mans Series GT1 champion for the firm. The only well known Ron I know is Ron Jeremy…

If you don’t know who the fellow is, then don’t let that put you off the car. Only available in Artic white and featuring the LS7 V8 engine, this car can whip up 512 bhp, serve you 62mph in 3.9 seconds and see you right for 199mph.

Ron Fellows

These cars are up there with the best, but it seems that the limited edition badge gets slapped on just about anything these days. Surely the men at ‘Vette would have been better off releasing just one mega-bhp monster to do the tag justice.
