205 rally turbo
I used to roll about in a Peugeot 205 GTI before I turned to the JDM side. The car was raw, the drive was exciting, edgy and dangerous - the handling was just something else.
Passers-by would often see the rear wheel lift off the black-top as a roundabout was taken at speed in a driving style reserved only for those with Kahona’s bigger than coconuts.
The 205 GTI is a classic hot hatch and despite mine breaking down more often than a drug dependant Hollywood actor, it still remains a fond memory.
So, you can imagine I was pretty chuffed to spot this Pug sat down at the Motorworx garage. It’s no glamour puss, but it is a rally rocket. The interior has been stripped out and a pair of well-worn bucket seats remain the only weight-adding culprits.
From the outside, you could be forgiven for asking what makes this 205 more special than any other you might see on the road? The answer lies under the hood. This car has been treated to a modified later spec 1.6 16v engine that has had a filthy great turbocharger added to it.
A light weight 80s racer allied to that motor equals a rapid, fun-packed drive. Too bad I didn’t blag myself a passenger ride…
