BECOMING A MEMBER

Register on Motoraddicts. Click ‘Register’ in the top right hand log-in box and follow on screen instructions. You will receive an email to confirm your details which will be followed by a simple registration form. If you have a hotmail account check your junk folder, we are too fast for the Microsoft servers to be allocated in the proper place.

MEMBER ACTIONS

Each member has his personal home page where he can follow up his contribution to MotorAddicts and its interaction with other members

Invite a friend. Click on the “Invite friend button” and invite your friends to join MotorAddicts.
Ride. You can upload images of your ride and add information that you may have done to it. Click on the “edit” button at your “mods” heading to edit your ride Select your favourite ride image to be on the top of your home page.
Blog. Add blog posts and keep track on the comments that other have done of them. To create a blog post simply click on the “Add New Post” grey button.
Photos. This were you show your favourite pictures. There are three ways of managing them

  • “Edit as a Batch”. Change the details of a group of images.
  • "Add Photos”. You can add five up to photos at a time. The formats currently allowed are: jpg,jpeg. Please ensure that they have a file size of less than 1MB each.
  • “Update Ride Photos”. There is a tick box at the footer of each image, select it and the click the update button to select them as your ride’s images.

 

Videos. Show your favourite YouTube videos. Click on the “Add Video” button, set the details and insert the YouTube URL video.
Groups. Groups that you belong to are displayed in this section. To create a new Group, hit the “Create a new group” button.
Friends. Other motoraddicts members that you call friends are listed here. Under “My Blacklist” are those that you don’t want to hang around with. Under “Show members who call me a friend” are those that have chosen you as a friend.
What’s going on. Track the activity of your friends and Groups you belong to in Motoraddicts.
Watch list. Create channels to follow up groups content update.
Account. Click here to edit your MA profile details.

GROUPS & CAR CLUBS

Create a Group. Once you are registered, and logged in the top right hand box will display your username, photos, blogs, friends, groups. Click groups. Click ‘create new group’ then follow the on screen instructions.

Accepting  others to join a Group.If you are the owner/creator of a Group, memberships request form other MA members will come to your email. To make them full members: Go to the Group's home you own, click on the "Members" tab in the nav, and under "Admin actions" , click on the green ticker to accept membership or the white cross to reject it

Joining a Group. Select Groups – Find a Group you wish to join. Click on the group name. You will then be on the group homepage. Click request membership (left hand side middle screen) Follow on screen instructions.

Posting a blog in a Group. Click into your group, you will arrive at the group homepage. Click ‘add blog’ and follow on screen instructions

Uploading a photo in a Group.
Click ‘Groups’ in your personal navigation box. Select the group you wish to add the pictures to. Click the ‘group’ icon. Click ‘add pictures’. You can add five photos at a time, if you wish to add a further five click ‘Group’ again. Please ensure that they have a file size of less than 1MB each.

MAPS

It is really easy to create a map in MotorAddicts using Google Maps. First we explain how to create one on Motoraddicts, followed on how to use Google Maps. We have also created a tutorial video, check the bottom at the text instructions.

How to create maps in MotorAddicts

In the Maps section,  click on "Create" . The form is as follows:

Title - Enter a title for your map
MapURL - Copy and paste here the Google Map link for this map. This link must start like http://www.google.co.uk/maps/...
Map HTML - Copy and paste the HTML info from this map. This should start with something like: <iframe width="425" height
Map Description - Add any summary you think will describe your Map
Map Location - Select from the drop down menu the closest city to your map
Type of Map - Could be:

  • Location: a specific landmark
  • Route: a nice drive between two places

Tags - finally add some kewords to the Map

How to create maps in Google Maps

Go to Google Maps and log in with your Google account (sign up for one if you haven't it yet)

Select "My Maps" tab on the left  and click on "Create new map"

Once you are happy and have saved it, click on  "Link to this page"  on the the right hand side over the maps. Use the information on the form as specified above.

SOCIAL BOOKMARKS

Use the icons at the bottom of photos, blogposts and videos to submit them to your favourites bookmarking sites: Digg, del.icio.us,Furl, Reddit, Stumble Upon. Don't know about these sites or you want to include others? Drop us a line to editor@motoraddicts.com
